December 20, 2006. GAI Consultants, Inc. proudly announces the promotion of two key employees to Vice President: Robert J. Houston and F. Barry Newman, P.E.

Robert J. Houston, Environmental and Energy Services Manager at GAI's Pittsburgh office, has been with the company since 1974, and has been an integral part of a multitude of successful nation-wide and international, environmental and energy-related projects from inception to culmination. Mr. Houston is thoroughly adept in project management and clientele communication skills and he brings more than 32 years of work experience in the environmental and cultural resources fields. Also a GAI Board Member, Mr. Houston specializes in the energy and environmental markets and has written for several publications, with particular emphasis on electric and gas transmission line siting.

F. Barry Newman, P.E., is manager of the Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Group in GAI's Pittsburgh office. An employee since 1970, Mr. Newman manages geotechnical engineering projects for power plants, dams, electrical transmission lines, wind farms, highways, bridges, disposal areas, commercial development, and steel mills. He is a registered professional engineer in PA, WV, CO, IN, MD and TX, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, where he has served as a Director of the Pittsburgh Section and as the Chairman of the Pittsburgh Geotechnical Group. He is a member of the Association of Dam Safety Officials, the American Society of Highway Engineers, and the Deep Foundations Institute, where he is currently a member of the national Micropile Committee.
