Arc Flash Analysis Print E-mail

An arc flash can often be caused by improper work techniques, such as accidental contact on energized equipment, dust, or corrosion build up.  Its consequences can stem from an explosive release of energy often manifested in enough heat to melt or vaporize the electrical equipment, causing fire and the uncontrolled release of x-rays, or enough concussive force to tear the equipment into shrapnel.

GAI’s electrical engineers complete arc flash analyses to determine the level of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) that maintenance and service personnel must utilize to comply with NFPA 70E and OSHA requirements. These investigations also determine the allowable approach distances for non-service personnel. Using state-of-the-art software analysis techniques, our professionals report their findings and provide training to maintain personnel and equipment safety.
