Bonar Group Joins GAI
On Dec. 31, Bonar Group, a successful civil engineering firm based in Fort Wayne, Ind., merged with GAI Consultants, Inc.
Not only is GAI Consultants now a 700-person firm, the company also significantly increases its geographic footprint in the Midwest and creates opportunities to serve a wider range of clients.
Founded in 1976, Bonar Group is headquartered in Fort Wayne and operates satellite offices in Indianapolis, Scottsburg, and Valparaiso, Ind. With 60 employees, Bonar Group has a 34-year-old reputation for providing water resources, planning, and civil engineering services to municipal clients. Now backed by GAI’s multidiscipline capabilities in the energy and environmental markets, Bonar Group’s seasoned team of professionals can offer a greater variety of services to existing and new clients.
GAI, in turn, will build on Bonar Group’s established water resources knowledge to expand the company’s services to clients in different markets throughout GAI’s Midwest Region.
“This merger – GAI’s largest ever – grows the company by 10 percent and strengthens our capabilities in the energy, water, and municipal markets,” President and CEO Gary M. DeJidas, P.E. said. “The company’s expansion is an exciting start to the new decade.”
Bonar Group President Tom Cicero has been named Vice President at GAI and will manage GAI’s Midwest Region, which now includes Bonar Group’s offices and GAI’s locations in Fort Wayne; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Erlanger, Ky.
Tom Cicero adds, “The merger brings together two companies whose reputations have been built not only on solid engineering practices, but more importantly, on customer service and trust.”
Bonar Group will be known as “Bonar Group – a GAI Company” through 2010 before completely adopting GAI’s name and branding in 2011.
