Please join me in celebrating the 50-year anniversary

of GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI).

As I reflect upon reaching our golden anniversary, I take pleasure in the fact of how far we have come as a firm. From a small geotechnical firm, specializing in soil mechanics and foundation engineering, to the multi-disciplined engineering, environmental and construction services firm of today, GAI has achieved significant growth over the past fifty years. I am proud of our most recent accomplishments in winning new projects, opening new offices and adding talented new staff to the GAI family. We acquired several growing firms which have added new services to the GAI portfolio. Most importantly, I am deeply appreciative of the many clients who are currently working with us and to those whom GAI has served as trusted partners for over 50 years. Several of these clients who were on GAI’s original 1958 client list are still on it and include well-known leaders in the marketplace today.

Of all the accomplishments heralded during this milestone event, perhaps the most significant is the dedication and loyalty of our staff. There is a saying that goes “companies do not grow by themselves – its people who grow companies.” GAI has gone through a tremendous transformation in the past few years. This transformation has been driven from within, from our staff. Their desire to accomplish greater goals, to design better projects for the public good, and to maintain a strong commitment to our core value of providing personalized, quality service to our clients, has been the cornerstone of our success. And that cornerstone has been steadfast for half a century.

This year, and for the first time in GAI’s history, we surpassed the 600-person mark. We have four distinct generations who share the GAI workplace. The diversity of viewpoints, perspectives and experiences are not only very healthy for our firm, but provide the foundation for its future. When we reach our goals together, we have the ability to grow the firm and achieve even greater heights. It short, it is refreshing.

So as we celebrate GAI’s 50th anniversary, I want to take this opportunity to thank the people who made it possible. Our staff, our clients and our communities. Daniel Webster said it best, “There are many objects of great value to man which cannot be attained by unconnected individuals, but must be attained, if attained at all, by association.” I am honored to be associated with the fine talent of individuals and clients at GAI past, present and future. They inspire me to be the best leader I can be today with a vision toward tomorrow.
